Another huge North Texas distribution project is on the way — this time in Forney east of Dallas.

Georgia-based developer Seefried Industrial Properties plans to build the big industrial project in the Gateway Development on U.S. Highway 80.

The new building at Gateway Boulevard and Akron Way will have more than 1 million square feet, according to plans filed with the state.

The project is identified as an “e-commerce fulfillment facility” without identifying a tenant.

Seefried Industrial is already building a much smaller, 200,000-square-foot distribution center for Amazon in the Gateway Development in Forney. And Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has a 1.2 million-square-foot distribution center in the same area on U.S. 80.

The industrial park is in Petro-Hunt’s 2,000-acre Gateway mixed-use development, which also includes homes and apartments.

Seefried Industrial’s new Forney project is set to start in July and will take a year to build, according to information given the state. The project is valued at $80 million.

Atlanta-based Seefried Industrial is already a major industrial builder in the D-FW area, with other projects at DFW Airport and in Hutchins and DeSoto.

The Forney development is just the latest in a string of new industrial and distribution projects in the works for North Texas.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area is already one of the country’s top industrial building markets, with more than 25 million square feet of space on the way.
